I left work thinking about what a good day this has been. When you go out the back door from my office, the construction zone has widened and part of the sidewalk has been closed. There's a lot going on back and forth from one side of first to the other. The gal that I stopped and talked with last week was out in the street, stopping traffic; it amazed me to see her out there with just that metal stop sign in her hand. Brave and bold. She caught me looking in amazement; I gave her a big thumbs up and she flashed a huge smile.
I noticed as I made my way to bart that I wasn't feeling the crunching in my low back that I felt last night on the last leg of my journey. That's good. And I remembered that energy begets energy, and put a little energy into getting a spring in my step and that helped all the way home.
I got a ton of stuff done at work today. I finally got to the fun part of a very tedious project, one that involves figuring out why and how a process has evolved over the last four years. I mean I know how it used to work, but figuring out what's been changed and why, is just plain annoying, but I got the annoying part over with and re-created a tool that is easier to use now than it was ten years ago when I first created it. I also ran several reports and crunched numbers; I enjoy doing that kind of analysis. I was able to work on the final steps of a new report that will make a couple of processes easier. And the best of all: I got my sweet little Portege up and running. I am looking at whether I can use it at home rather than lugging that stupid Dell back and forth. I'm on it now and it still remembers the password for accessing the neighbors internet, so that's a bonus. I was able to start the day by getting a list together of things that need to be done and I think that really helped me stay focused and power through as much as I did.
I picked up a tomato at Canyon Market. A squash, too, but it's way too warm to think about heating up the house with cooking. So, I'll have a tomato sandwich for dinner and I've got blueberries for dessert. NCIS is playing on the TV and I'll head up to do some reading in a little bit.
I'm not sure that it's come through in this post, but it's been a good day.
did you talk like a pirate today? i didn't, but it seems it is that day to do that.
ReplyDeleteArrrr! I did not know today was the day. Maybe I can get in a few "matey's", etc tomorrow.
