Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

I wish I had the ability to capture the audio portion of this scene. Sophie is snoring like an old man after a Thanksgiving Feast. It's peaceful, the slow rhythmic rasping of her snore. It took a while for them to settle down this morning. Bella was positive that it was going to be a morning full of tug of war and shredded toilet paper and she peeks up at me every once in a while. I imagine she is checking the time; is it play-time? is it lunch-time?

These dogs have a very sweet life.

I renewed their licenses over the weekend and I had to find Sophie's paperwork to do so; we brought her home in January of 1997 and she weighed about 34 lbs. I seem to remember there being some discussion of her maybe having had a litter of pups, so I am not sure how old that would make her now -- at least 13.

Pups are nice, but there is nothing like an old dog.
