It's just as well I didn't try to ask in advance how all of this worked for visa, immigration, customs, and transfer to a domestic flight. I think it would have stressed me out to severly. But the flight arrived a bit early, so I felt confident that I had plenty of time. And I just drifted along with the crowd and watched signs to see if it seemed like I was headed in the right direction. A gentleman in the line "Foreign Passport - VIsa on entry" line was very helpful and showed me that I needed to purchases a voucher first and where exactly to do that. Then I drifted along to customs, where the young customs person was very helpful and even helped lift my bag on the conveyor belt, looked at my declaration and said, "welcome to Indonesia, Madam Snider". People seem very friendly and very helpful and once someone directed me from the international terminal to the domestic terminal, I floated along from one helpful person to the next and until I landed in this seat, with a nice cool coca-cola, internet access, and a promise to announce the board of my flight in English.
I would guess that there are a lot of different people from different places here, but there certainly aren't many that look western. There's a blonde putting on make-up, youngish, seems to be in a trance (perhaps taveler's trance). It looks like she is staring out the window, barely aware that she is applying eye liner. Many women with head coverings, not sure what they are called here, but look silky and long and cover throat and shoulders. The women in these outfits look Filipino to me, but what do I know. Many of them have children, little children. And most everyone in here is eating.
Let's see the flight. It seems so long ago now, I feel very much in the moment now. I didn't sleep on the plane, but watch a movie and had a very tasty fruit drink, something with Kiwi and Mint and maybe some other things, but I am not sure what. And a second glass of champagne. They served a brunch and I decided to have the mini croissant and the bon maman strawberry jam with fresh fruit. I was thinking if I are only very lightly I might be more likely to sleep, but I think I mentioned that didn't happen. I watched a movie, something about this is 40, odd movie. It was a comedy, but I found it depressing. A whole family in mid life crisis.
Now I have a little girl that wants to talk with me but is very shy. Her folks are encouraging her, but the more they encourage the shyer she gets. Very cute and very sweet.
Enough for now. I think I'll show this little girl the baby monkey program i have on my ipad.
