Access woes caused by a variety of issues have made it difficult for me to stqy in touch, oh best beloved.
Time slips away quickly,so lets see if i can do a quick recap. We arrived in Nairobi and were met at the passenger terminal for our first appointment. We did a tour of one of five cargo handlers, we did not have time to visit the ICD. Since this is not about the work side of things let me tell you that we are finding the people to be very welcoming. One gentleman had a very good laugh when i asked about taking pictures of the facility and said that we should take a picture together because he is so black and i am so white and held his arm up to mine as if that was necessary to show the contrast.
So we got back to the hotel late and had dinner at one of the hotel restaurants on a very deep veranda. I cant rcall if i have mentioned the pollution, but it was very nice excepty for the sooty grit the hotel is across from the university, so many people out walking in small groups with their backpacks on, looking like they are coming or going from evening classes.
The wifi at the Nairobi hotel was great and i was able to have the portal open with Sophie watching (sleeping) next to me all night. We left out big bags their and packed up for a quick over night trip to Mombasa.
This has gone from a quick update to lost of detail and i am worried about losing my connection again. Hope you dont mind if i post and i will try to start the next posting immediately.
Whenever you mention that your Portal is open I see the Guardian of Forever portal from Star Trek in my mind...
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how that portal creates a sense of connection.
ReplyDeleteI was in line at Kmart today (of all places) reading about the Safari, and just amazed at the sense of connectedness we can all have in this age. A quick photo sent instantly. A text sent instantly. Letters shared with images and messages amongst friends instantly. Amazing.
