Pictures from Super Nova's Visit - Tacoma Museum of Glass

Thought I'd get these pictures out of my camera and put them where we can enjoy them.

I'm so glad Scrunch got this picture of a single piece. I loved the Chihuly Glass Bridge, but there were so many splendid shapes and colors and it was so magnificent to see the light change in the natural light, that I just couldn't pick a favorite. Now it is quite nice to have a picture of just one piece to focus on and admire.

As the sky changed, the light changed and the works themselves changed; for me seeing the change gave them a living quality that was very different from any of the pieces we had seen inside the museum.

I found a spot where I could sit and stare, but of course had to see if I could get a picture on my mobile and upload it to facebook! The cone shape is actually the roof of the Museum's Hot Shop, where you can watch artists working with glass. While we were there, they were working on martini glasses for their annual fund raising auction.

I was so captured by the wall of glass art, that I didn't make it to the otherside to see what the blue glass is about, but looking at the picture now reminds me of colored sugar crystals growing on a stick that you see at old fashioned candy stores.

The bridge crosses from the Glass Museum to Washington State University. I love the reflection in the glass that this photo captures. Also, there's Super Nova and A Panda.
