Back to Reality

And we are back! I can almost hear a radio announcer saying those words after a commercial break. Maybe I listen to too much old time radio.

Just before I left for Hawaii, I noticed Bella had a bit of a limp. I took her to the vet, they did x-rays and it looked like maybe something was going on in her elbow joint. A little prescription to help with swelling, they sent the x-rays out to be reviewed, and we'd follow up on our return from vacation. Then the day before I left she got a terrible ear infection and I had to get drops / wash to be applied twice a day. Sorry dog sitters.

While we were gone our vet got the results back and recommends a consultation with a highly recommended vet at an animal surgery clinic in Seattle, as it appears that there is a fragmented coronoid process (Elbow Dysplasia). We have the appointment on Monday morning, so today I went to get the x-rays so the surgeon can review them. Bella had been kind of shaking her head and scratching at her ears, so I thought, what the heck, maybe they have time to see her.

Well, I guess I didn't realize how much I groomed behind her ears because we came home to huge masses of felted Bella fur behind each ear. One she had scratched at and pulled off of the skin, the other at least as big as a golf ball. I started trimming, which she wasn't much thrilled about and I had to go slowly for fear of cutting her. Her inner ears looked clear and the vet had the tech shave off Bella's felting projects. She looks just a little bit funny, but she seems to feel better. I'll have to try to get a picture.

After the vet we went to our favorite hamburger joint, Bloomers, where you can get a Pup Patty. So nice to have a quick dinner and a special treat for the pups on this day.
