Boy Scouts

The hotel in Semarang across the street from a mall.  Might as well have been a river filled with crocodiles.  Yes, there is a cross walk, but I have no idea why. I stood there for a moment thinking that there would be a break in the traffic and there was.  But that only gets you half way across.  there is no island and only a narrow pvc pipe like barrier between the traffic going in different directions -- meaning it is not as wide as I am.  That was a little terrifying.  A western looking young man with an Indonesian looking woman came up from behind me, and he stepped into traffic holding his left hand up "STOP" and we crossed.  as I was crossing I was thinking, how the hell am i going to get back? call a taxi?  the mall was fine.  i am not much of a shopper, starbucks, crocs, giordano, matahari, not much that I am interested in.  So for crossing back, i spotted a couple of young men getting ready to cross and said, "I'm going with you" they smiled big smiles and said, "OK, miss, be careful, stay close to us"  Terima Kasih, young men, Terima Kasih!  I hope that some one does you a kindness very soon.
