Bella Update Wednesday

Gosh she looks like a border collie in this picture!

Last night, after we got Bella home, we pulled the mattress off of the spare bed and onto the living room floor. The thinking being that if we can't get her settled in her kennel, we can at least lay down with her on the bed and work with her.
In this picture you can see her shaved legs and fashion statement t-shirt. She's a little out of it.


They made two tiny little incisions on each elbow. Today Bella opened up one of her incisions, but not really bad. We got some sterile gauze on it and wrapped her in an ace bandage. The bleeding didn't last long and Bella now has a lovely white t-shirt in her wardrobe. Did I mentioned that on her first day home (Yesterday) she managed to remove one of her stitches? I can't even find that incision today; it seems as if it has healed right up.

Today has been challenging, but the Animal Surgical Clinic called to check on her and suggested a little something to calm Bella. I was able to pick that up from our regular vet; there's no way I could have faced a 6 hour drive a third day in a row. Bella really spent most of the day in her kennel in the bedroom, where I set up my office and she actually did pretty well in there. It is difficult to control her itching while she is in there, but treats and toys can sometimes distract
her. The challenge is really that she must be attended constantly. But she she really is a very good girl.
