Though the pups probably think of it as "Pups on the Front Porch Morning", I got coffee made, hooked the pups up to their line and sat on the front porch enjoying the morning sunshine, the birds singing and the quietness of the neighborhood.
A couple of walkers approached on and Sophie could not resist barking.* The walkers immediately acknowledged them and commented something like, "oh you have two again" and then headed up our little stairs to greet them. It was very sweet. One gal mentioned that she had just lost her 18 year old dog in the fall.
Coffee and pups on the porch in a neighborhood where people notice you're dogs and stop to greet them -- what could be better than that?
It occurs to me, perhaps I should have a blog titled, "This Must Be the Place."
* Marcia did something with Sophie yesterday where after the first bark, she thanked her, told her good girl and told her that "we see them". Sophie then walked over to Marcia and Marcia gave her a treat and Sophie laid back down. I tried this on the porch this morning and it worked pretty well.
Lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo maybe Sophie isn't an excessive barker. We just haven't explained when she should stop.
Thanks for the comment!
